Signs of spring are everywhere. You just need to know where they are.
Sparrows are forming their smaller breeding flocks. Even their song is changing. The longer days with the sun higher up from the southern horizon, structures are warming up. Waking up insects that have been patiently waiting for spring to arrive. Ant calls have been unexpectedly high. Carpenter ants, Pavement ants as well as a tramp ant known as the Odorous House Ant. The OHA is a very small black ant with a slight tear drop shape to it's abdomen. They move very fast for their size. If crushed they have a citronella like odor. Even skunks are beginning to stir. The snow base is over a foot yet. Fortunately more seasonable temps will arrive the second week of March with possible 50*F. By the beginning of the third week of March!
